With its eye firmly focused on the global market, nobody can accuse iconic Brit fashion brand Burberry of skimping on this Christmas 2014 campaign.
Shot on the George Lucas soundstage at Elstree, with a large cast of top models and dancers including Hannah Dodds and Anders Hayward, it stars an angelic 12 year old Romeo Beckham who was reportedly paid £45,000 for his performance as part of a deal negotiated by former Spice Girl impresario Simon Fuller.
The film also features a specially-commissioned Ed Harcourt soundtrack The Way That I Live, which is set for single release on December 15 by Sean Adams’ label CCCLX.
It’s anybody’s guess where the 2001 Mercury Music Prize-nominee turned sideman-to-the-stars found the time to go into Abbey Road to record this gritty but inspirational piano ballad.
Apart from his duties as a Burberry brand ambassador, 2014 has seen Harcourt release a mini-album Time Of Dust and variously write, record and tour with the likes of Lana Del Ray, Marianne Faithful and Sophie Ellis Bextor.
So could he crown it all by becoming a surprise contender for this year’s Christmas Number One?
If this Burberry ad – which runs at over four minutes in its full form – gets the traction it deserves, then anything is possible.
