Music companies and those using music feature highly in an inaugural Youth 100 list published by marketing consultants The Beans Group.
YouTube is the most popular brand, “liked” by 40% and “loved” by another 55%, followed by Wikipedia (93% approval), Cadbury’s (92%), Google (91%) and the BBC (89%).
The company canvassed more than 1,000 students aged 18 to 24 who rated a shortlist of 220 brands based on their experiences of them. Amazon (86%) was 9th on the list, followed by Facebook in 18th place, Apple at 24, Sony at 26, Spotify at 39 and HMV at 75 in the rankings.
Chris Maples, vp Spotify Europe said his company “taps into the age group’s big passions: [one of them being] free music to the world and that is obviously something this age group is passionate about and we deliver it in a way they are very familiar with - through mobile devices and PCs or laptops.”
