With only four weeks to go before the kick off in Sao Paulo, World Cup-themed ads are breaking quicker than Real Madrid on the counter-attack.
This one has been around since April but is likely to prove one of the more memorable – and, with a clock time of over four minutes, probably the longest too.
Like most of its competitors, England strip sponsors Nike have recruited a brace of top international soccer stars such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and David Luiz (not forgetting the Incredible Hulk!?!) for an exhilarating spot which starts as a kids kickabout on a high rise estate and ends as a battle of the titans on a field of dreams.
The film was commissioned by Wieden+Kennedy (USA) but shot by three time winner of Campaign’s Director Of The Year award, Londoner Ringan Ledwidge.
The full-tilt soundtrack comes from the 2004 debut album by the intriguingly named Eagles Of Death Metal, one of a handful of side projects led by Queens Of The Stone Age singer and multi-instrumentalist Josh Homme.
More humourous than hardcore, Miss Alissa joins the many licensed titles which have made EoDM go-to guys for ads, movies and games in US sync circles.
