14 year old Lucinda Nicholls uploaded a demo of Inside & Out, which she wrote at mountain-biking camp, in April last year. Within weeks it had caught the ear of CheethamBell director Andy Cheetham and was selected to accompany the kitchen company’s forthcoming 2013 campaign. Nicholls was subsequently flown over to the UK in November to record it in Abbey Road Studios.
"Originally I filmed myself singing it on my laptop with my mum playing piano because all my friends from camp wanted to hear it on Facebook,” said Nicholls.
"Next thing we know my Mum got a call from a man in Manchester who wanted to use my song in a kitchen ad. It took a while to sink in cos I thought it was one of my friends playing a prank on me!”
Inside & Out went on to win the Western Australia Music Association (WAMi) Song Of The Year (Schools category) for 2012 and has now been released digitally through iTunes.
