Not content with threatening Apple’s dominance of the mobile phone market, South Korean giant Samsung aims to take on the likes of Sony and Toshiba and become the leading name in home TV too.

So it launches its new curved screen ultra high definition set with Gladiator, a film of which Cecil B Mille would have been proud.
A boy and his father, still in their pajamas, find themselves literally at the heart of the action involving a cast of over 350 extras in a disused quarry in New Zealand decked out as a Roman coliseum.
