BMG believes that its ‘one-stop shop’ service was a key factor behind licensing the most recent single by 1990s hitmakers James into the National Lottery’s I Am Team GB TV campaign.
“We knew that Nothing But Love had huge sync appeal when the band delivered the Girl At The End Of The World album late last year – so we were really excited by the National Lottery brief because the song fitted it so perfectly,” says BMG Sync & Marketing Manager William Kennedy.
“But this was a very complex deal for ITV and Camelot with lots of different uses and media involved,” he continues.
“The fact that we control both the master rights and the publishing – and could move very quickly on important creative issues like edits and mixes – made coordinating an evolving creative project so much easier for them.”
James, whose most successful singles include Sit Down and She’s A Star, assigned their publishing catalogue to BMG in 2012 followed by a record deal two years later.
Moving On, the lead track from the Manchester band’s 2014 album La Petite Mort, recently featured in a high profile North American TV campaign for the BMO Bank Of Montreal.
