Mad About The Boy
"The use of music in ads has changed dramatically since I first started in advertising.
"Unless you had a blue chip client or an account like Levi’s to showcase the work it was pretty difficult to always get the track you wanted. Nowadays, it is much easier to get hold of tracks though you find if you get a track on an ad for Boots or John Lewis it goes straight to the national consciousness.
“I think my favourite use of music was BBH’s 501 campaign using Mad About The Boy by Dinah Washington.
"The idea came from the 1960s film The Swimmer starring Burt Lancaster and the agency used old stock film to shoot it, which gives it a great look. It’s definitely about the quality of the casting and, as always, the combination of great music and a great film."
