It seems like only yesterday, of course.
But it was actually some 32 years ago that BBH transformed the sync market with the legendary Levi’s Launderette ad featuring a young man getting his kit off to the sound of Marvin Gaye’s I Heard It Through The Grapevine.
A lot has changed since 1982. Agencies have come and gone and other blue chip brands have created the benchmarks to beat.
But a good Levi’s spot can always be guaranteed to capture the imagination – and this new FCB-driven campaign is a real eye-catcher.
It celebrates the fact that denim’s top label is now worn with pride by funky fashionistas from six to sixtyplus.
In the great tradition of its predecessors Live In Levi’s delivers a humdinger of a soundtrack too.
This comes courtesy of a young, and as yet largely unknown, British blues belter Jamie N Commons who has already guested on Eminem’s most recent album and shared a stage in Europe with Bruce Springsteen.
Rumble And Sway was produced by Alex Da Kid as the title track of Commons’ debut EP released last year.
Universal appear to have no immediate plans to re-promote it. But with exposure like this Shazam could well do the job for them!
